The city is as glorious at night as it is in the day. And that’s saying a lot.
Especially along the South Wharf promenade.
This wide walking path runs along the whole length of the Yarra River as it runs through the city. The north side of the river is metropolitan and home to the Central Business District, think downtown Manhattan, while the south side is commercial and lined with shops, restaurants, and an enormous casino complex.
The nightlife on the South Wharf is vibrant and the Promenade is always bustling. This was especially so last night as there was the first playoff “footy” game. People take their Australian Rules Football VERY seriously here and overwhelmingly loud cheers could be heard emanating from pubs and restaurants periodically.
